REEF Partners with Philippines Inter-Island Sailing Foundation

On February 27, 2013 to March 1, 2013 Renewable Energy Enterprises Foundation (REEF) and the Philippine Inter-Island Sailing Association Foundation (PHILSAF) will start its 13th Philippine Hobie Challenge. Aside from being a sail boat race, the event will conduct mission work in Candelaria and San Antonio Zambales and at Morang Bataan. The finish line is Subic Bay at Anvaya Cove. The mission or outreach program includes a medical, educational and community development elements.

REEF concentrates its work primarily in Philippines helping families off the grid or live without electricity. The Family First program REEF created addresses ways to help reduce lighting and cooking costs while improving family health, increase chances of children completing primary and secondary education, while reduce deforestation and contribute to reduce green house gases.

REEF distributes solar powered lanterns and clean wood burning stoves to qualifying families. These small "appliances" have significant positive social impacts for families and their community.
